Greetings, adventurers! Wizard Keen here, ready to guide you on a magical journey into the world of Minecraft map conversion. Have you ever wanted to transform your favourite Minecraft Java Edition maps into Bedrock Edition or vice versa? Today, I’m introducing you to Chunker, a powerful and free tool that makes map conversion as easy as waving a wand.
And guess what? To celebrate, I’ve converted the final Wonder Quest map to Bedrock Edition for you to explore! Read on to learn how to use Chunker, and grab the link to this exclusive map at the end of this post.
What Is Chunker?
Chunker is a brilliant open-source tool that converts Minecraft worlds between Java and Bedrock editions. Whether you're a mapmaker, server admin, or an adventurous player, Chunker bridges the gap between these two versions of Minecraft. Here’s why it’s magical:
User-Friendly Interface: Drag, drop, and convert—it's that simple!
Compatibility Across Versions: Chunker lets you choose your target Minecraft version for precise results.
Free and Open Source: No cost, just community-driven excellence.
You can download Chunker as a standalone desktop app here: https://oss.chunker.app/
Step-by-Step Guide to Using Chunker
Step 1: Prepare Your World
Make sure your Java or Bedrock world is ready. For Java, locate your world folder (with the level.dat
file), or if it’s zipped, keep the .zip
file handy. For Bedrock, you’ll need the .mcworld
file.
Step 2: Upload to Chunker
Open Chunker and drag your world folder or file into the app. Alternatively, use the upload button and select your file manually.
Step 3: Choose Your Target Version
Select the edition and version you want to convert to. Are you converting Java to Bedrock or Bedrock to Java? No problem—Chunker has you covered!
Step 4: Convert and Save
Hit the "Convert" button, and let Chunker work its magic. Once the conversion is complete, save the new file to your computer. For Bedrock, double-click the .mcworld
file to import it into Minecraft. For Java, copy the converted folder into your saves
directory.
A Few Quick Tips
Keep It Simple: Chunker supports blocks, biomes, and dimensions, but it doesn’t yet handle entities or player inventories—so plan accordingly.
Advanced Mode: Want more control? With Chunker’s advanced settings, you can tweak your conversion even further.
